Rita Sampaio da Nóvoa

Rita Sampaio da Nóvoa has a degree in History (2008) by the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA FCSH); an MA in Medieval History (2010), by NOVA FCSH, with a thesis about Lisbon’s leper house and the attitudes towards disease in the late Middle Ages; and a PhD in Historical Archivistics (2016), by NOVA FCSH and the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, which was funded by a Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) PhD scholarship. During the PhD, Rita studied the production, management and uses of noble family archives during the 15th and 16th centuries.
Between 2017 and 2021, she undertook a post-doctoral research project, funded by an FCT post-doctoral scholarship and hosted by CEPESE (Universidade do Porto), about the institutional configurations of premodern noble families as corporate bodies.
