The conference Sociedades da Vinculação: morgados e capelas no Atlântico português (séc. XV-XVIII), organised by the VINCULUM project in collaboration with the Postgraduate Programmes in History of the Federal Universities of Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte, will be held in Recife on 4 and 5 September and in Natal on 9 September.

Under the motto of the general presentation of the VINCULUM project and its results, this conference will bring together Brazilian and Portuguese specialists on the subject of entailment in Portugal and the Atlantic area, in a broad chronological approach. In both cities, the event will feature an opening session by VINCULUM’s Principal Investigator, Professor Maria de Lurdes Rosa, as well as presentations by various members of the project.

The meeting will be interspersed with cultural visits to sites related to the phenomenon of entailment in Brazil (Poço Comprido and Tapacurá sugar mills, as well as the Cunhaú mill).
